On G70, G80, G90 and GV80 the 12V battery is under the boot floor or behind its side trim. Jump-start terminals are provided under the bonnet, so a flat car can be started without emptying the luggage area. Replacement includes reconnecting the vent tube.
Genesis fits AGM batteries in European-style DIN cases, typically 80 Ah or larger depending on engine. A JIS battery from an older Hyundai saloon will not suit the tray or the clamp. A car built with AGM must get AGM again.
A message that the battery is discharging due to external electrical devices means current is being drawn while parked, often by a dashcam or a charger left plugged in. Repeated warnings on a battery over two years old usually mean it no longer holds charge.
The Hyundai Genesis saloon sold up to 2016 is the same car that was later badged Genesis G80. Its boot-mounted AGM battery follows the same layout, so owners of either can book under G80 and we bring the same type.
Genesis saloons and SUVs in Dubai are mostly daily cars for short urban trips: tower basement to office, valet to valet. The cars carry heavy electronics and rarely get a long enough drive to recharge fully. An AGM battery tolerates this better than a flooded one, but it still ages quickly in the heat.
GV60, Electrified G80 and Electrified GV70 use a 12V battery to start their systems, separate from the traction pack. If it is flat the car stays dark even when fully charged. We test and replace that 12V battery and confirm the type before dispatch.

It is in the boot, under the floor panel, on G80 and on the earlier Hyundai Genesis saloon. You do not need to reach it to jump-start the car because there are terminals under the bonnet. For replacement our technician works from the boot and reconnects the vent tube afterwards.
No. The car was built with AGM, and its charging strategy and Idle Stop and Go are tuned for it. A flooded battery would also sit in an enclosed boot, where a sealed AGM design is the safer choice. We replace AGM with AGM of the correct capacity and connect the vent tube.
Connected services, the alarm, keyless entry and any plugged-in accessories keep drawing a small current while parked. A healthy AGM battery copes with that for a good while, an ageing one for only days. If a week at the airport flattens it, the battery has probably lost capacity and should be load tested.
No diagnostic coding is needed. The battery sensor recalibrates by itself after the car has been parked with the engine off for about four hours, and Idle Stop and Go can stay inactive until then. The clock and one-touch window settings may need a quick reset.
