Who makes Exide batteries
The Exide name goes back to 1900, when the Electric Storage Battery Company of Philadelphia launched a battery under it. Over the following century the brand was sold and licensed in different parts of the world, and today two companies with no shared ownership use it. Both are real battery manufacturers with their own factories.
Exide Technologies is the European company, headquartered near Paris. It has produced start-stop AGM batteries since 2004 and EFB since 2008, and it supplies original equipment batteries to many European car makers. Its automotive range follows DIN sizes and includes the Exide Premium, Exide EFB and Exide AGM lines. It also sells under the Tudor name in some markets.
Exide Industries is the Indian company, based in Kolkata, and a major battery maker in India. It supplies car factories there and sells lines such as Exide Mileage and Exide Matrix, mostly flooded batteries in JIS sizes. A battery from either company can reach the UAE, and the label states the manufacturer and country.

Exide battery questions
Are Exide India and Exide Europe the same company?
No. Exide Industries in India and Exide Technologies in Europe are separate companies with separate factories and product ranges. They share a name for historical reasons only. A battery from either can be sold in the UAE, and the label shows the manufacturer and the country where it was made.
How do I know which Exide I am getting?
Ask us, and check the label when the technician arrives. It names the company and country of manufacture. Line names help too: Mileage and Matrix are Exide Industries, while Exide Premium, EFB and AGM come from Exide Technologies. We tell you which one before dispatch.
Which Exide battery suits a Renault Duster or Peugeot 3008?
French cars take DIN sizes. Versions without start-stop usually suit a flooded battery such as Exide Premium, while start-stop versions need Exide EFB or AGM, matching whatever the car was built with. The capacity changes with engine and year, so we confirm it from your details first.
Is the warranty the same for both Exide ranges?
The rule is the same: up to 24 months depending on the battery, confirmed when you order. The term can differ between a flooded battery and an AGM, and between sizes. Whatever applies is written on your invoice before the technician fits anything.
Is Exide AGM suitable for Dubai summers?
Yes. AGM is the technology that copes with heat and start-stop cycling better than flooded batteries, and Exide Technologies has made it since 2004. It will still age faster here than in Europe. Regular driving and a correct charging voltage, roughly 13.8 to 14.4 V, help it last.
