Cars we most often fit Tudor to

Tudor is a European range in DIN sizes with EFB, AGM and auxiliary batteries, which suits these makes and their start-stop and twin-battery models.

Worth knowing before you choose Tudor

  • Tudor is rarely stocked in the UAE. In many sizes it will simply not be available, and we say so before sending anyone.

  • There is little reason to wait for a Tudor if the matching Exide of the same size and type is in stock. In Europe they are sister products.

  • The range is European. Owners of Japanese cars needing JIS sizes should look at other brands.

What Tudor does well

  • Exide engineering, different label

Tudor batteries come out of the Exide Technologies group and its European plants. Buying one means buying into the same design and production system that sits behind the Exide name in Europe.

  • Original-equipment background

The group supplies batteries to European car makers for the production line. That work sets the test standards its factories run to, and the replacement range is built in the same plants.

  • Auxiliary batteries too

Some Mercedes-Benz and Volvo models carry a small second battery for start-stop or on-board electronics. Tudor lists Start-Stop Auxiliary batteries from 9 to 15 Ah for these, so main and backup can come from one maker.

  • EFB and AGM both covered

Start-stop cars split into two camps, and Tudor has a battery for each. That avoids the common mistake of fitting EFB where AGM belongs, which leads to early failure and warning lights.

How a Tudor battery reaches your car

You know the battery, the arrival estimate and what is included before a technician leaves for your car.

  1. Send your location

Call or WhatsApp your location pin, the car make, model and year, and where it is parked.

  2. We confirm before dispatch

You hear which battery fits, whether registration is part of the job and the estimated arrival time.

  3. Tested at the car

The technician checks the battery and the charging system and tells you what the readings mean.

  4. Started or replaced

A jump start if that is enough. If not, the new battery goes in, the old one leaves with us and you pay by cash, card, Tabby or Tamara.

Who makes Tudor batteries

The Tudor name goes back to Henri Tudor, a Luxembourg engineer who worked on the lead-acid battery in the 1880s and set up the brand in 1890. He licensed it country by country. In Spain the licence became Sociedad Española del Acumulador Tudor, whose Zaragoza factory opened in 1897 and which made Tudor a familiar battery name across the country.

Exide Technologies took over the Spanish Tudor company in October 1994. Since then Tudor and Exide have been sister brands: one group, shared engineering and shared European plants, among them Manzanares in Spain. The difference is mostly the label and the sales network. Exide supplies batteries to car makers as original equipment, and Tudor draws on that work.

For passenger cars the range has four steps. Technica is the standard battery and High-Tech the higher-output one, both for cars without start-stop. Start-Stop EFB covers cars with a basic stop-start system, and Start-Stop AGM covers those with regenerative braking. Tudor also sells small auxiliary batteries for cars that carry a second battery.

Tudor batteries in Gulf heat

How Long Do Car Batteries Last in the UAE?
  • Start-Stop AGM holds its electrolyte in glass mat, so nothing spills and it accepts charge quickly, but AGM is no more heat-proof than flooded. Technica and High-Tech lose a little water over the years instead. In Dubai all four types age faster than in Spain, and a battery left partly discharged in a hot car ages fastest.

Battery types: flooded, EFB, AGM and 12V lithium

The type your car left the factory with decides what can replace it. Fitting a cheaper type than the car was built for is the most common reason a new battery fails early.

AGM vs EFB vs flooded, explained
TypeWhat it isCars that use itWhat can replace it
Flooded (maintenance-free)Sealed lead-acid battery with liquid electrolyte. The standard starter battery. Most cars without start-stop: the majority of Japanese and Korean saloons and SUVs, older European cars.Another flooded battery of the same size, or EFB as an upgrade.
EFB (enhanced flooded)Flooded design strengthened to take about twice as many charge cycles.Entry-level start-stop cars and cars with heavy electrical load.EFB or AGM. Not a standard flooded battery.
AGM (absorbent glass mat)Electrolyte held in glass-fibre mats. Spill-proof and built for constant charge and discharge.Start-stop with energy recovery and most premium cars: BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Porsche, Land Rover, Volvo.AGM only. The car usually needs the new battery registered.
12V lithium and auxiliary unitsSmall low-voltage battery that powers locks, screens and computers on EVs, hybrids and some sports cars.Newer Tesla builds, BYD and other EVs, some Porsche and McLaren models. The same unit the maker specifies. We confirm by model and year before dispatch.

Tudor battery questions

All questions and answers
Is Tudor the same as Exide?

They are separate labels from the same group. Exide Technologies has owned the Spanish Tudor company since October 1994, and the two ranges run in parallel: Technica, High-Tech, Start-Stop EFB and Start-Stop AGM each have an Exide counterpart. For a driver, a matching size and type from either label does the same job.

Where are Tudor batteries made?

Tudor batteries are built in the European plants of Exide Technologies, which include the Manzanares factory in Spain. A given battery may come from another plant in the group, so read the country of manufacture on the label. Our technician shows you that label, along with the capacity and type, before fitting.

What warranty do you give on Tudor batteries?

Up to 24 months, depending on the battery. Because Tudor is not always in stock locally, we confirm three things together when you order: that the battery is available, which line and size it is, and the exact warranty period that applies to it. Nothing is dispatched until you have agreed.

Is there a Tudor battery for a Renault Duster or Peugeot 3008?

French crossovers take DIN sizes, and Tudor covers them. A version without start-stop uses Technica or High-Tech. A version with start-stop needs Start-Stop EFB or AGM, matching what it was built with. Size and type vary by engine and year, so we confirm both from your registration details before dispatch.

My car has two batteries. Can Tudor replace the small one?

Often, yes. Tudor lists Start-Stop Auxiliary batteries from 9 to 15 Ah for cars that carry a second battery. These are sealed VRLA units, and each car takes one specific size. A fault message about the auxiliary battery does not always mean the main one is weak, so we test both first.
