Who makes Hyundai Mobis batteries
Hyundai Mobis is the parts and service arm of Hyundai Motor Group. It began in 1977 as Hyundai Precision and took its current name in 2000. The company designs and supplies modules, electronics and replacement parts for Hyundai, Kia and Genesis, and the batteries sold in its boxes are the genuine-parts replacements for those cars.
The 12 V batteries themselves are built by specialist Korean battery makers. Recent Kia owner manuals, for example, name Clarios Delkor and Sebang Global Battery as 12 V battery manufacturers, and the maker differs by model and year. The label on the battery shows who built it, so there is no need to guess.
Two types cover most of the range. CMF batteries are sealed, maintenance-free flooded batteries for conventional cars. Does Hyundai Mobis manufacture its own car batteries?
Mobis supplies genuine parts; the 12 V lead-acid batteries are made by Korean battery companies. Recent Kia owner manuals list Clarios Delkor and Sebang Global Battery as 12 V battery manufacturers, varying with model and year. Check the label on the battery for the maker of that particular unit.
My Kia has Idle Stop and Go. Which battery does it take?
It takes AGM. Idle Stop and Go restarts the engine many times per trip, and only AGM is built for that cycling in these cars. The old battery will have AGM in its part code. Fitting a CMF battery in its place shortens battery life and can switch the stop-start function off.
