Two batteries on diesel trucks
Ram 2500 and 3500 with the Cummins diesel use two 12V batteries wired in parallel. Replacing only one leaves the old battery dragging the new one down, so we test both and normally change them together.
eTorque trucks keep a 12V AGM
Ram 1500 models with eTorque have a 48V mild-hybrid pack that restarts the engine, plus a 12V AGM battery for everything else. We replace the 12V unit only. The 48V pack is a dealer item.

Which battery does a Ram ProMaster Rapid take?
A Ram ProMaster Rapid typically takes a maintenance-free flooded or EFB or AGM battery, in the range Group 48 / 94R / 49 / 65. Most ProMaster Rapid cars take a maintenance-free battery. Versions with auto start-stop need EFB or AGM instead. If your engine switches off at traffic lights, tell us and we bring the right type.
Can you replace a ProMaster Rapid battery where it is parked?
Yes. We come to homes, offices, basement and mall parking and the roadside across our Dubai coverage. Send the building name, parking level and any security rules so the technician can reach the car.
Does the ProMaster Rapid need battery registration?
No. The ProMaster Rapid does not need the new battery registered with a diagnostic tool. Some settings such as the clock or one-touch windows may need resetting, which the technician does before leaving.
How long does a ProMaster Rapid battery last in the UAE?
About two years is typical here, against three to five in cooler climates. Heat ages the battery whether the car is driven or not, and short trips with the AC on full never quite recharge it. A test before summer shows how much life is left.
Do both batteries on my Ram 2500 diesel have to be changed together?
It is strongly advised. The two work as one bank, and a weak battery pulls charge from the healthy one. We test each battery separately. If both are near the end, changing the pair gives even charging and a longer life.
