What to know about Porsche batteries
Lithium 12V starter batteries
Some newer Porsches, including the Cayenne from 2019 and certain 911 variants, use a 12V lithium-ion starter battery that communicates with the car over a data line. It cannot be swapped for an AGM battery. We check the battery type before dispatch.
AGM on the rest
Other Porsches with auto start-stop use AGM batteries, typically 80 to 95 Ah in H7 or H8 cases. Because many of these cars are stored for long periods, a full recharge and a retest are worth doing before deciding the battery is finished.
Does the 918 need battery registration?
Cayenne, Macan, Panamera and recent 911 and 718 models need the new battery registered with a diagnostic tool so the energy management resets. Older sports cars do not. Whether registration is included is confirmed before we dispatch.

Porsche 918 battery questions
Which battery does a Porsche 918 take?
A Porsche 918 typically takes an AGM or EFB battery, in the range DIN 70 – DIN 95 (L3–L5). The 918 uses start-stop and energy recovery, so it needs an AGM or EFB battery. A conventional battery in its place wears out within months.
Can you replace a 918 battery where it is parked?
Yes. We come to homes, offices, basement and mall parking and the roadside across our Dubai coverage. Send the building name, parking level and any security rules so the technician can reach the car.
Does the 918 need battery registration?
On most model years, yes. The car tracks the age and type of its battery, so the new one has to be registered or it keeps charging as if the old battery were still fitted. We confirm before dispatch whether registration is included for your 918.
How long does a 918 battery last in the UAE?
About two years is typical here, against three to five in cooler climates. Heat ages the battery whether the car is driven or not, and short trips with the AC on full never quite recharge it. A test before summer shows how much life is left.
Why does my Porsche battery go flat when I travel?
A parked Porsche still powers its alarm, tracking and keyless systems. Over several weeks that can drain a healthy battery, faster in a hot garage. A mains battery maintainer prevents it. If the car is already flat, we jump-start it and test whether the battery has recovered.
