What to know about Kia batteries
AGM for ISG models
Kia versions with Idle Stop and Go, found on some newer Sportage and Sorento models, are built with an AGM battery. A standard flooded battery in its place will start the car but wears out quickly, and ISG may stop working. We replace AGM with AGM.
Compact batteries in small Kias
Picanto uses one of the smallest starter batteries on the road, an NS40-class case of around 35 Ah. There is not much reserve in it. A few short trips with the air conditioning on, or an interior light left on overnight, can stop it cranking.

Which battery does a Kia Roadster take?
A Kia Roadster typically takes a maintenance-free flooded battery, in the range DIN 70 – DIN 95. The Roadster takes a sealed maintenance-free battery. In Gulf heat the things that matter are the correct case size, enough capacity for the AC and accessories, and a recent manufacture date.
Can you replace a Roadster battery where it is parked?
Yes. We come to homes, offices, basement and mall parking and the roadside across our Dubai coverage. Send the building name, parking level and any security rules so the technician can reach the car.
Does the Roadster need battery registration?
No. The Roadster does not need the new battery registered with a diagnostic tool. Some settings such as the clock or one-touch windows may need resetting, which the technician does before leaving.
How long does a Roadster battery last in the UAE?
About two years is typical here, against three to five in cooler climates. Heat ages the battery whether the car is driven or not, and short trips with the AC on full never quite recharge it. A test before summer shows how much life is left.
Is the K5 battery the same as the Optima battery?
Not always. The K5 replaced the Optima with a new platform, and the battery case and technology can differ from the older car, especially on versions with Idle Stop and Go. We check the year and engine, or the label on your current battery, before sending a technician.
