A guide based on common Gulf-spec fitment. The label on your current battery is the final word, and we check it with you before dispatch.

A note on the Explorer

  • Covers 2011 to 2019 models. From 2020 the Explorer has Auto Start-Stop and takes an AGM battery in an H6 or H7 case.

What to send us for a Ford Explorer

  • Your location pin, with building name and parking level if it is in a basement

  • The model year of your Explorer and the engine if you know it

  • A photo of the label on the battery now in the car

  • What happens when you try to start: clicking, nothing at all, or a slow crank

What to know about Ford batteries

  • American and DIN sizes

US-built F-150, Explorer, Expedition and Mustang use BCI groups such as 65, 48 and 94R. Ranger, Everest and EcoSport come from Asian plants and take DIN-case batteries. Two Fords parked side by side can need completely different batteries.

  • Deep sleep after long parking

Connected Fords shut down non-essential systems when left parked for about two weeks or when battery charge drops, and the FordPass app reports deep sleep mode. It protects the battery but is also a sign that the car needs a proper drive or a charge.

Does the Explorer need battery registration?

  • Fords with a battery monitoring sensor, which covers most models from about 2011, need the system reset when a new battery is fitted. Our technician does this at the car. Older Fords and basic models without the sensor need nothing.

How we replace a Explorer battery

You know the battery, the arrival estimate and what is included before a technician leaves for your car.

  1. Send your location

Call or WhatsApp your location pin, the car make, model and year, and where it is parked.

  2. We confirm before dispatch

You hear which battery fits, whether registration is part of the job and the estimated arrival time.

  3. Tested at the car

The technician checks the battery and the charging system and tells you what the readings mean.

  4. Started or replaced

A jump start if that is enough. If not, the new battery goes in, the old one leaves with us and you pay by cash, card, Tabby or Tamara.

Ford Explorer battery questions

All questions and answers
Which battery does a Ford Explorer take?

The Ford Explorer usually takes a maintenance-free flooded battery, most often Group 65 (75 Ah). This is the fitment most Explorer cars in the Gulf leave the factory with. Engine and model year can change it, so we match it to the label on your current battery before dispatch.

Can you replace a Explorer battery where it is parked?

Yes. We come to homes, offices, basement and mall parking and the roadside across our Dubai coverage. Send the building name, parking level and any security rules so the technician can reach the car.

Does the Explorer need battery registration?

It depends on the year and specification. Versions with a battery sensor or start-stop need the new battery registered or the monitoring reset. Tell us the model year and we confirm before dispatch whether it applies and whether it is included.

How long does a Explorer battery last in the UAE?

About two years is typical here, against three to five in cooler climates. Heat ages the battery whether the car is driven or not, and short trips with the AC on full never quite recharge it. A test before summer shows how much life is left.

My Mustang has been parked for a month and will not start. Can you help?

Yes. A month of parking with the alarm and control modules drawing current is enough to flatten a Mustang battery. We jump-start it and then test whether the battery recovers. If it has stayed too low for too long it may not hold charge again, and we replace it there.
